Our Curriculum

A Comprehensive Curriculum Designed for Success

Pathfinder Comprehensive School operates under the Anglophone sub-system of education in Cameroon, following the curriculum approved by the Ministry of Secondary Education and preparing students for the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations conducted by the Cameroon GCE Board.

Our curriculum is carefully structured to provide students with a strong academic foundation, practical skills, and the critical thinking abilities they need to succeed in higher education and in life.

Two Academic Streams

We offer two distinct academic streams, allowing students to choose the path that best suits their interests, abilities, and career goals:

The Commercial Education stream is designed for students who are interested in business, finance, management, and entrepreneurship. This stream equips students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue careers or further studies in the world of commerce and business.

Teaching Methodology

At Pathfinder Comprehensive School, we employ a variety of teaching methods to ensure effective learning:

  • Lecture and Discussion: Interactive classroom sessions where teachers present concepts and engage students in meaningful discussions.
  • Practical Work: Hands-on activities and demonstrations to reinforce theoretical knowledge, particularly in science and commercial subjects.
  • Group Work and Collaborative Learning: Students work together on projects and assignments, developing teamwork and communication skills.
  • Individual Assignments and Homework: Regular assignments to reinforce learning and develop independent study habits.
  • Revision and Past Paper Practice: Systematic revision sessions and practice with past GCE examination papers to prepare students for their final exams.
  • Field Trips and Excursions: Educational trips that provide real-world context to classroom learning.
  • Use of Visual Aids and Technology: Where available, teachers incorporate visual aids, charts, models, and technology to enhance understanding.

Assessment and Evaluation

Students are assessed regularly through:

  • Continuous Assessment (CA): Class tests, quizzes, assignments, and projects conducted throughout each term.
  • Termly Examinations: End-of-term examinations held at the conclusion of each term.
  • Mock Examinations: Practice examinations conducted before the GCE O/Level and A/Level exams to prepare students for the actual examination experience.
  • GCE Examinations: The final GCE Ordinary Level examination (Form 5) and GCE Advanced Level examination (Upper Sixth) conducted by the Cameroon GCE Board.

Report cards are issued at the end of each term, providing parents and students with a detailed overview of academic performance, conduct, and areas for improvement.

Language of Instruction

The primary language of instruction at Pathfinder Comprehensive School is English, in line with the Anglophone sub-system of education in Cameroon. French is taught as a second language to ensure bilingual competence, as required by the national education policy.
