Rules and Regulations
Maintaining Discipline, Promoting Excellence
Pathfinder Comprehensive School is committed to maintaining a safe, orderly, and conducive learning environment for all students. Our rules and regulations are designed in accordance with the Anglophone Cameroon education system and the guidelines of the Cameroon GCE Board and the Ministry of Secondary Education.
Every student admitted to Pathfinder Comprehensive School is expected to abide by these rules and regulations at all times. Failure to comply will result in appropriate disciplinary action.
1. GENERAL CONDUCT
1.1 Students must show respect to all teachers, staff members, school administrators, fellow students, and visitors at all times.
1.2 Students must be honest and truthful in all their dealings within and outside the school.
1.3 Students are expected to maintain high moral standards and behave in a manner that reflects positively on the school.
1.4 The use of abusive, vulgar, or insulting language is strictly prohibited.
1.5 Fighting, bullying, intimidation, or any form of physical or verbal aggression is strictly forbidden and will be severely punished.
1.6 Theft or dishonesty of any kind is a serious offense and may result in suspension or expulsion.
1.7 Students must not engage in any form of cultism, secret society membership, or gang-related activities.
1.8 The possession, consumption, or distribution of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, or any illicit substances is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate expulsion.
1.9 Students are prohibited from carrying weapons, sharp objects, or any dangerous items to school.
1.10 Romantic relationships between students within the school premises are strictly prohibited.
1.11 Students must not engage in any form of sexual harassment or misconduct.
1.12 Students must respect school property and the property of others. Vandalism or deliberate destruction of property will be punished, and the student will be required to pay for damages.
2. ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY
2.1 Regular and punctual attendance is compulsory for all students. Students must be present in school every school day unless excused for a legitimate reason.
2.2 The school day begins at 7:30 AM. All students must be on the school premises by 7:15 AM at the latest.
2.3 Late-coming is a punishable offense. Students who arrive after the stipulated time will face disciplinary action, including manual labor, detention, or other consequences as determined by the administration.
2.4 Any student who is absent from school must present a written excuse from a parent or guardian upon return. In cases of illness exceeding two days, a medical certificate must be provided.
2.5 A student who accumulates excessive unauthorized absences (more than 15 days in a term) risks being dismissed from the school.
2.6 Students are required to attend all classes, assemblies, study periods, and school-organized activities. Skipping classes is a punishable offense.
2.7 No student is permitted to leave the school premises during school hours without written authorization from the Principal or Vice Principal.
3. UNIFORM AND DRESS CODE
3.1 All students must wear the prescribed school uniform at all times during school hours and school-related activities unless otherwise instructed by the administration.
3.2 The school uniform must be clean, well-pressed, and properly worn. Shirts must be tucked in, and all buttons must be fastened.
3.3 Students must wear the approved school footwear (shoes and socks). Slippers, sandals, or open-toed shoes are not permitted.
3.4 Extravagant hairstyles, hair coloring, wigs, weaves, braids (for male students), and other fashion-oriented hair treatments are not permitted.
3.5 Male students must keep their hair short and neatly trimmed at all times.
3.6 Female students must wear simple, neat, and modest hairstyles as prescribed by the school.
3.7 The wearing of jewelry, earrings (for male students), necklaces, bangles, rings, or other fashion accessories is strictly prohibited during school hours.
3.8 Female students are permitted to wear only small, simple earrings (studs) and are not allowed to wear makeup, nail polish, or artificial nails.
3.9 Students must have their school identification cards on them at all times while on the school premises.
3.10 Physical Education (PE) uniform must be worn during PE classes and sports activities.
4. ACADEMIC RULES
4.1 All students are expected to attend every class and participate actively in lessons.
4.2 Students must come to class with the required textbooks, notebooks, writing materials, and other learning materials.
4.3 Homework and assignments must be completed and submitted on time. Failure to submit assignments will result in penalties, including loss of marks and disciplinary action.
4.4 Examination Malpractice is a very serious offense. Any student caught cheating during tests, quizzes, or examinations (including continuous assessment tests, termly exams, mock exams, or GCE examinations) will face severe punishment, including:
- Cancellation of the examination paper
- Suspension from school
- Expulsion from school
- Report to the GCE Board (in the case of GCE examinations)
4.5 Students must maintain silence and order during study periods and in the library.
4.6 Students must respect the class timetable and move promptly between classes when the bell rings.
4.7 No student is permitted to be in the classroom or dormitory during assembly, breaks, or physical education periods unless authorized by a teacher.
4.8 Students must take proper care of textbooks, library books, and other learning materials. Lost or damaged books must be replaced at the student’s expense.
5. USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES
5.1 The use of mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, portable music players, and other electronic devices is strictly prohibited on the school campus unless expressly authorized by the administration for educational purposes.
5.2 Any electronic device found in a student’s possession will be confiscated and may only be returned to the parent or guardian at the end of the term.
5.3 The school is not responsible for the loss or damage of any electronic device brought to school in violation of this rule.
6. SCHOOL PROPERTY AND ENVIRONMENT
6.1 Students must take care of all school property, including classrooms, desks, chairs, laboratory equipment, library books, and sports equipment.
6.2 Students must not write on walls, desks, or any school property. Graffiti and defacement of school property is a punishable offense.
6.3 Students are expected to keep the school compound, classrooms, toilets, and all common areas clean and tidy at all times.
6.4 Littering is prohibited. Students must dispose of waste in the designated bins.
6.5 Students must participate in school cleaning activities and manual labor as scheduled by the administration.
6.6 Plucking of flowers, cutting trees, or destroying the school’s landscaping is strictly prohibited.
7. ASSEMBLY AND SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
7.1 Attendance at morning assembly is compulsory for all students. Students must line up promptly and orderly when the assembly bell rings.
7.2 Students must participate respectfully in prayers, the national anthem, school anthem, and all assembly activities.
7.3 Students must attend all school-organized events, including cultural days, sports days, guest lectures, and national day celebrations, unless excused by the administration.
7.4 Students must represent the school with dignity and good behavior during inter-school competitions, field trips, and other external events.
8. HEALTH AND SAFETY
8.1 Students who are ill must report to the school administration immediately. Sick students may be sent home or taken to a health facility, and parents/guardians will be notified.
8.2 Students must maintain good personal hygiene at all times, including regular bathing, handwashing, and grooming.
8.3 The school reserves the right to send home any student suffering from a contagious illness until they have fully recovered and present a medical clearance certificate.
8.4 Students with known medical conditions, allergies, or special health needs must inform the school administration at the time of admission.
8.5 Students must not administer medication to themselves or to others. All medications must be reported to and managed by the school administration.
9. RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY
9.1 Students must behave respectfully and responsibly in the Pinyin community and surrounding areas.
9.2 Students must not engage in activities that bring the school’s name into disrepute.
9.3 Students are not permitted to visit bars, nightclubs, video clubs, or any establishment deemed inappropriate for school-age children.
9.4 Students must not loiter in the village or engage in unproductive activities during school hours or after school.
10. DISCIPLINARY MEASURES
The school employs a progressive disciplinary approach. Depending on the nature and severity of the offense, disciplinary measures may include:

| Level 4: Very Serious Offenses | Repeated serious offenses, drug possession/distribution, violence, cultism, gross misconduct | Expulsion from school, report to relevant authorities |
Note:
- The school administration reserves the right to determine the appropriate disciplinary action for each case.
- In all cases, the student’s parent or guardian will be informed.
- Students have the right to a fair hearing before any major disciplinary action is taken.
- Corporal punishment is not used as a form of discipline at Pathfinder Comprehensive School, in accordance with modern educational policies and child protection standards.
11. PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Parents and guardians are expected to:
11.1 Ensure that their children attend school regularly and punctually.
11.2 Provide their children with the required school uniforms, textbooks, and learning materials.
11.3 Pay all school fees and levies promptly.
11.4 Attend all PTA meetings and respond to invitations from the school administration.
11.5 Monitor their children’s academic progress and behavior by reviewing report cards and communicating with teachers.
11.6 Support the school’s rules and regulations and reinforce discipline at home.
11.7 Inform the school of any changes in the student’s health, contact information, or family circumstances.
11.8 Refrain from disrupting school activities or confronting teachers/staff in front of students. All concerns should be directed to the school administration through appropriate channels.
